Victoria-based duo Valley Road are bringing their gorgeous country/folk harmonies to SA for two shows only. Joining them at the Three Brothers is folk/alt-country singer/songwriter Ryan Martin John. Entry is by donation, doors at 8pm. Valley Road are also appearing at Stone Pony in Willunga on 21st September.First and foremost, Valley Road love to sing together, using their voices to draw out the emotion in a song in a way that goes straight to the heart. Longtime friends Bec & Marty have spent years sharing music around the kitchen table at Marty's sheep farm. Their love of folk in all its forms is reflected in their thoughtful songwriting, sparkling guitar lines and easeful vocal harmonies. Their songs are rich in imagery, containing echoes of the dry bush and rolling basalt hills of Central Victoria. The duo released their debut self-titled album in 2023, after they won a Troubadour Foundation Award that enabled them to record with producer Rod McCormack. Their album has received widespread national airplay as well as achieving Feature Album of the Week on ABC Country.
Exploring the styles of golden era Laurel Canyon songwriters, Ryan Martin John is an introvert with a deep love of songwriting and pondering. Folky with a dash of country flair, Ryan’s sound ranges from a dynamic, intimate hush when solo to a harmony-gilded, guitar-laden fanfare when playing with his full band.
After releasing two EPs in 2016 and 2017 plus a string of side projects and collaborations in between, RMJ released his debut album 'Goodness Gracious Graceless' April of 2023. The record has thus far received much national acclaim - seeing AMRAP chart success and high rotation on ABC Country radio and
community radio.
