$Valley Press Club Lifetime Achievement Award \u2014 Wayne Phaneuf$

The Valley Press Club will honor former Republican Executive Editor Wayne Phaneuf with its Lifetime Achievement Award Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at Storrowton Village Carriage House in West Springfield.

Phaneuf started at the newspaper in 1969. During his long career there, he worked as a reporter, columnist and managing editor before serving as the newspaper’s executive editor since 1998. He retired in 2019 and continues to write books with Joseph Carvalho about the history and culture of Western Massachusetts.
Previous Valley Press Club Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are: 2005, Durham Caldwell; 2006, Robert McClellan; 2007, Jack O'Neil; 2008, Keith Silver; 2009, Barbara Bernard; 2010, Vinny D'Addario; and 2017, Ray Hershel.
Tickets for the event, which will include hearty hors d'oeuvres, food stations and a cash bar, are $60. Proceeds will benefit the Valley Press Club scholarship fund. Donations are also gratefully accepted.
