FREE AUTHOR TALK!Hosted at the Tura Marrange Library, join Valerie Ringland, author of Healing Through Indigenous Wisdom, for a free talk. The Medicine Wheel is an Ancient Tool used by Indigenous cultures around the world. It is a metaphore for life, and working with it can give you invauable insight and support you to ground more fully.
Event begins at 3pm, so please arrive from 2.45pm. Books will be available for purchase during the event from Candelo Books.
Talk: Join Valerie Cloud Clearer Ringland, PhD to further your journey of respectfully de-colonising and re-indigenising where you are by honouring all of our ancestors. Valerie is an East Frisian (Indigenous to northern Germany) and Sumerian (Jewish) woman living on Yuin country (Central Tilba) with a lifetime of lived experience that led to her earning a PhD on Indigenous and Western science perspectives on trauma healing in 2017, and publishing a knowledge-sharing guidebook in 2024 entitled Healing through Indigenous Wisdom.
Most of us have ancestors from multiple lands and lineages, and many of us have been born and lived our entire lives off of our traditional lands. Valerie's talk will define Indigenous science and discuss how Western science diverged from its Indigenous Mesopotamian roots, offer guidance about connecting with your own authentic Indigenous spirituality through Indigenous science practices, and discuss some simple ways to integrate this knowledge into your everyday life. The talk will invite participants to share and reflect, and conclude with Q&A and book signing.
