Slab-building pottery is one of the three most commonly used methods of making ceramics (the others being a potter's wheel and coil-building). Participants taking the class will learn the basic techniques required to create a clay mug. Several styles and options will be available as examples. Participants should also come away from the class with an understanding of clay materials and tools that can be used in altering ceramics. While first-time participants will learn the basics, the instructor will allow the opportunity for those with more experience to expand upon their known techniques and gain "tricks-of-the-trade" to improve their skills.
THIS IS NOT A POTTERY WHEEL CLASS.
During the 1.5-hour class, participants will make a project that will be allowed to dry at the studio and will be fired in the kiln. After two weeks, participants will return to paint their pieces.

Times: 6-730pm AGES 10 and up
Cost (non-refundable and paid in advance): $45
Return to paint on or after March 7
What’s included:
Cost of the class includes class instruction, clay to complete a project, firing in the kiln and returning to paint after 2 weeks.
Class fee is NON-REFUNDABLE but can be transferred to another person if something comes up.
NOTE: Children under 15 MUST be accompanied by an adult to assist as needed.
