About this Event
THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES is a bold, funny, and deeply human theatrical event. Through a series of monologues drawn from real interviews, the play explores identity, bodily autonomy, pleasure, pain, resilience, and the complex relationship people have with their bodies—especially in a culture that frequently polices, objectifies, fetishizes, or ignores them. At once irreverent and serious, it challenges us to confront how language, power, and gender shape everyday experiences, from self-confidence and intimacy to violence and healing.
Humboldt County celebrates 25 years of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES since our first local production. Original local director, Kristy Hellum, returns with an outstanding cast and vagina friendly volunteers to bring you a Humboldt-centered production. Our play shines a spotlight on trans, non-binary, and queer communities whose stories - too often silenced, stigmatized, or whispered about in shame - will be told.
This work (play) matters because it transforms private experiences into public conversation, replacing embarrassment with understanding and isolation with solidarity. THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES invites you to listen, laugh, reflect, and reckon with the social norms that influence how we value bodies and voices. It is not just a performance, but a call to awareness, empathy, and action—reminding us that telling the truth, even when it makes us uncomfortable, is a powerful step toward dignity, equity, and change.
Our Humboldt production will join a legion of others around the world this February to celebrate V Ensler’s V-Day Mission founded in 1998. V stands for “victory,” “valentine,” and “vagina.” V-Day demands the end to violence against women and girls and the earth! As such, our production is a fundraiser for Humboldt Domestic Violence Services, www.hdvs.org and Together Women Rise, www.togetherwomenrise.org.
Doors open an hour early at 6 PM (13th and 14th) and 1 PM (15th) for schmoozing, coming together as a community, and learning about the fundraising recipients.
Ticket times reflect door opening time. Show begins an hour after doors open.
See you there!
