Course Description: Schwartz Center Rounds are interprofessional panel discussions that allow for health care providers to reflect and share about how they are affected by their work. The goal of the program is to foster and support empathy, collaboration and compassion for self and others.

Target Audience: Physicians, Nurses, APPs, Chaplains, Social Work, All Staff

Desired Outcomes: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

· Describe the social, emotional, ethical, and personal issues that arise during the care of patients and their impact on caregivers.

· Demonstrate enhanced communication with patients, family members and colleagues.

· Value opportunities to explore and understand multiple perspectives across professions and disciplines.

· Value opportunities to provide and receive professional support.

· Model for learners behaviors of nonjudgmental listening and respect.


Accreditation & Designation Statements: The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.TM Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing awards 1.0 hours of participation (consistent with the designated number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM or ANCC contact hours) to a participant who successfully completes this educational activity. The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing maintains a record of participation for six (6) years.

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, The University of Virginia School of Medicine and School of Nursing is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program.
