“Utsav 2024” will be an ode to Dr Sushila Pohankar, mother and Guru of Swati Natekar, the brain behind “Utsav”. An artist extraordinaire - professional singer, composer and an academic, Dr. Pohankar was a role model to many. To celebrate her birth centenary, 3 leading female artists from the current, vibrant scene of Indian classical arts in the UK will present a tribute to Dr Sushila Pohankar's legacy and her exemplary journey in music. The event will kick off with well known Kathak dancer Ashwini Kalsekar with her special presentation “Devi”, attributed towards Goddess Durga. Another brilliant International fame female Sarod (stringed instrument) virtuoso Debasmita Bhattacharya (Kolkata/London) will present Indian Classical Ragas, followed by Smt. Swati Natekar, London based eminent singer, songwriter, who will be performing some beautiful Indian Classical and Thumri compositions created by her mother/Guru Dr. Sushila Pohankar. They will be accompanied by the amazing musicians like Hanif Khan (Tabla), Harkiret Singh Bahra (Tabla), Rekesh Chauhan (Harmonium) and Satwinder Pal Singh (Sarangi). Compère by Arnika Paranjape. This event is also supporting the charity fund raising for Dementia U.K.
