Join us at Corrs Chambers Westgarth on Tuesday, 16 September 2025 to hear from four esteemed panelists as they unpack the intersections of Queer identity and the legal profession. The Honourable John Sackar AM KC (he/him) joins us to discuss his role in the Special Commission of Inquiry into LGBTIQ+ hate crimes and the role of allies in advancing LGBTQIA+ rights through the law. UTS Alum Nicholas Stewart (he/him), a Senior Partner at Dowson Turco Lawyers and president of the AHLR, joins us to unpack how we can be advocates for diversity as Lawyers. Katie Green (she/her/they), CEO of the ICLC, joins us to discuss her atypical path to becoming a lawyer and the importance of community legal centres and social justice focused lawyering. Chair of the Pride@Corrs network Teagan Lewis (she/her) joins us to discuss the role of corporate lawyers in embracing inclusion.
This event is also a fundraiser for the Inner City Legal Centre who provide life-changing legal support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Your donation will directly fund legal services, casework, and advocacy for at-risk community members. Without your support many of the ICLC’s state wide specialist services won't continue to operate - as they remain largely unfunded. Whether it’s helping a trans person with identity recognition, supporting a sex worker in need of representation, or standing with LGBTQI+ individuals in times of crisis, your generosity makes a lasting impact.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along a gold coin, or to make an optional digital donation via the link attached or by card on the day of the panel! For more info on the ICLC’s work, look here: https://outinlawfundraiser.raiselysite.com/.
