Scenes from Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim
“Into the Woods” written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine intertwines several beloved fairy tales! The musical masterfully blends the stories of Cinderella Rapunzel Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood. These characters embark on their quests through a mysterious forest longing for their dreams. However they soon discover that wishes can have unforeseen consequences. Each character’s struggle unfolds with humor intensity and a poignant exploration of desire.
The production is directed by Kaitlyn Sanders who is a part time Lecturer of Voice at the University of Texas at Brownsville. Sanders is known for her passionate and emotional performances grounded in her belief in music’s transformative power.
