An evening with Ustad Fateh Ali Khan at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Karachi on 30th August 2025 at 8.00 pm sharp.Foremost exponent of the Gwalior gayeki in Pakistan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan inherits the formidable legacy of Ustad Pyare Khan and Ustad Umeed Ali Khan. He learnt music from his father, Ghulam Rasool Khan, and his uncle, Ustad Umeed Ali Khan.
His art is distinguished by the immense tayyari and powerful taans characteristic of the Gwalior gharana. His repertoire includes numerous original bandishes.
A recipient of many honours, including the Roshan Ara Gold Medal and the President’s Pride of Performance, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan has represented Pakistan at numerous festivals and concerts around the world.
The concert will be opened by Ustad Fateh Ali Khan’s son Izzat Fateh Ali Khan who has gained recognition as an upcoming khayal gayek. Accompaniment will be provided by Yousuf Basheer on Tabla, Ghulam Abbas on Harmonium, Wajid Ali on Tanpura and Gul Mohammad on Sarangi.
