THIS IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT.
No matter how much we want to maintain a Growth Mindset, writing can be tough! Whether it’s getting started, knowing what to write about, figuring out where to take a story, or being open to editing our work, writing can put anyone on the brink of giving up. During our 'Growth Mindset for Writing' workshop, we will explore different types of writing, understand that writing isn’t just “one thing”, and practice ideas to get started when you are stuck in any of the parts of writing.
The objectives for this workshop are to:
- Help each child identify their inspiration for writing.
- Learn that writing is not “one thing”, some parts are easier for us than others
- Understand that “strategies” are different tips, tricks, and approaches for pushing through the harder parts of writing
- Develop personal “strategies” to succeed in all parts of writing, especially when we get stuck.

Having a growth mindset means understanding that intelligence can be developed, rather than believing it is fixed (like thinking "I'm either good at writing or I'm not"). We want our students to realize that struggling with something difficult doesn’t reflect a lack of intelligence. Instead, it’s an opportunity to grow and improve by using the right strategies.
This is a free, in-person workshop, however it is limited to 20 students.
