About this Event

This FREE* training is suitable for individuals whose work brings them into contact with children and young people who have experienced loss (whether that be due to a death, or due to – for example – being in care or being separated from a parent).

We will be covering key principles in supporting children who have experienced loss, and exploring the creative activities that can be used to help them. We will share our favourite hands-on activities and resources, and you will have the chance to try some.

The learning outcomes from the training are:

- identify the importance of helping children find ways to express their feelings in relation to loss and grief

- gain a deeper understanding of what helps children when they struggle with loss and grief

- experience creative activities that can help

- explore activities that promote resilience and help children safely express their feelings, thoughts and memories

- explore the emotional impact of this work on ourselves and consider ways to manage our own wellbeing

- receive information about organisations and resources that can help to further support children and families

Attendees will receive a certificate and resource pack upon completion of the training.

*Thanks to funding from Stratton St Margaret Council this training is free for professionals who:

  • work with children aged 5-18 who live in the Stratton St Margaret Parish area
  • work in the public, voluntary and community sectors. For example in education, children’s services, health, youth, play and community settings. Individuals from the private sector are not eligible.

In the first instance places will be capped at 2 per organisation. Free parking onsite.
