Using a Strengths-Based Approach to Coach Teachers

Supporting teachers to grow toward enhanced instructional practices works best when we build from their strengths. This means that we work to know our teachers well, to notice and name the strengths they have in their classroom, and to partner with them to determine a next-step in instructional improvement.

This workshop is designed to support coaches and leaders in developing a strengths-based approach toward teacher development. This approach gives coaches and leaders space to work together in exploring a progression of teacher learning, and then supporting teachers through that progression. In addition to developing and using a progression of teacher learning, being strength-spaced means using language that maintains a positive attitude about the teaching and learning within the school. It also means modeling and asset-based approach through actions. 

Coaches and leaders will leave this session understanding how to consider a progression of teacher learning toward strengthened instructional practices and strategies to maintain an asset-based approach to teacher growth and practice.

Who Should Attend:

The KINL Coaching: Using a Strengths-Based Approach to Coach Teachers workshop is designed for coaches, department chairs, team leaders, administrators, and others who provide professional development experiences and/or coach teachers in new practices.

What to Expect:

This workshop will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to:

• identify the instructional big goals of your school/district
• consider a progression of teachers learning toward those goals
• find openings and opportunities for strengths-based feedback to support teacher growth

If you need to pay for your registration via invoice, you may do so by selecting your ticket and then choosing the invoice option at check out.

Cancellation Policy - Cancellations made before the payment settles (usually within 24 hours) will be 100% refunded. Cancellations made 7 calendar days or more in advance of the event date, will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days of the event will receive a 75% refund.
