About this Event
Use of Force Investigations
Come join us for an informative event on Use of Force Investigations! Whether you are a law enforcement officer, investigator or attorney, this event is for you.
This course provides an in-depth process of how an officer-involved use of force incident should be handled. The course studies state statute and constitutional law involving use of force, along with the administrative investigation aspects dealing with force.
Human behavior factors are studied and evidentiary items such as officer statements, written reports, and body worn cameras are covered in detail.
Real-life case studies are used to correlate the instructional material to an actual incident. Students will be given the opportunity to review and analyze a use of force incident and determine if the complaint against the officer(s) and/or agency are sustained or not sustained; or, if the officer is exonerated or a policy failure is a factor.
