Our Business Breakfast Series is back! Join fellow USC executives as we relaunch this esteemed series, where industry leaders share their journeys, insights, and expertise.

We are thrilled to kick off the series with distinguished guest speakers Alan and Michael Fuerstman. Alan, a Trojan Parent, is the Founder and CEO of Montage International, which includes Montage and Pendry Hotels, while Michael serves as the Creative Director and Co-Founder of Pendry Hotels.

From bellman to CEO, hear how Alan worked his way to founder of an international luxury hotel brand. You will hear his story of what it takes to successfully run a chain of hotels that prides itself on casual elegance. The Montage expanded its presence by adding the ultra-chic Pendry brand hotel to its portfolio, co-founded by Michael, with its recent addition in Newport Beach, Fashion Island.

About the speaker:

Alan began his career working part-time during high school as a bellman where his passion for hospitality began. After graduating from Gettysburg College, he accepted a position with Marriott to join its management program. Montage now has nine locations internationally. He received a Smart Business Award in the Real Estate & Hospitality category. In addition, he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Michael co-founded the Pendry hotel chain in 2017 with the Newport Beach location opening in 2023 where he oversaw the development of the members-only space dubbed the Elwood Club. He now runs the ever-expanding international brand. He quotes “If we’re going to endeavor to build something, we want to make sure it’s going to be spectacular”
