The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) will host its inaugural Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) Regional Forum in Atlanta, Ga. on April 18-19, 2024, at Clark Atlanta University and the Atlanta University Center's Woodruff Library.

As of the first of five goals in DOJ's annual HBCU plan, this forum is designed to: (a) cultivate DOJ-HBCU partnerships; (b) enhance the competitiveness of HBCUs to pursue DOJ grants and contracts, and (c) encourage students to pursue internships and careers in federal law enforcement. Presenters and panelists will include senior DOJ officials, such as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Kristen Clarke; U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, Ryan K. Buchanan; ATF Special Agent in Charge - Atlanta Field Division, Benjamin P. Gibbons; FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge - Atlanta Field Office, Marlo M. Graham; and U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia, Thomas E. Brown, as well as other DOJ representatives from D.C. and local staff from DOJ components in and around Atlanta.

The Forum will include a wide array of programmatic sessions, including a series of technical assistance programs for HBCUs interested in pursuing prospective DOJ grants or contracts, a career fair with exhibits and workshops for students interested in pursuing Department internships and jobs, and other programs designed to introduce HBCU students, faculty, and staff to DOJ’s various components and cultivate partnerships. It will have a mix of plenary and breakout sessions intended to showcase the diverse range of partnership opportunities, with programs organized around different topical tracks – Race and Equity in the Law; Local and Campus-Level Collaborations; Grants and Funding Opportunities; Career Pathways in Federal Law Enforcement; Science and the Law; Partnering with Professors.
