About this Event

Join Friends, Family, and Community to Celebrate the Life and Work of Urvashi Vaid

Urvashi Vaid, queer community activist, strategist, and visionary leader, died on May 14, 2022, of metastatic breast cancer. Urvashi lived and worked in Boston for many years, organizing Allston-Brighton Greenlight, a feminist anti-violence project; attending law school at Northeastern University; organizing LGBTQ Pride; working at Gay Community News; and dancing all night at queer and punk rock clubs. She held a special place in her heart for our city, and we loved her back.

Gather together for an evening to remember, to laugh, to kvell, to mourn.

Invited speakers include: Amy Hoffman, Richard Burns, Sue Metro--and more to come.

Contact Sue Hyde at [email protected] with any questions.

Co-Sponsors: Women's, Gender, and Sexualities Studies Program of Northeastern University, Suzanna Danuta Walters, Director; The History Project, Joan Ilacqua, Executive Director

Organized by Boston Friends of Urvashi
