2024 has been the year that contemporary jazz has come home to Cluny 2. A special venue to witness top level playing and this is a Newcastle debut for a collective that are destined for greatness.Urvashi is a new London-based collective, formed in January 2023. Inspired by the band’s shared interest in traditional and modern musical cultures, drawing equally from Qwali, Arabic Tarab, modal jazz and drum and bass, to create original tracks alongside fresh interpretations. Urvashi unites these disparate musical influences coupled with extensive improvisation to create transiently unique live shows.
