Urgent Care Point-of-Care Ultrasound - Foundation Course
The Urgent Care Point-of-Care Ultrasound (UC-POCUS) Foundation Course is ideal for those looking to add diagnostic ultrasound to their urgent care clinical practice. The 2-day Foundation Course is suitable for those completely new to POCUS in the Urgent Care setting, and those who may have some limited experience in other clinical settings.
The course includes a range of short lectures, demonstrations and - most importantly - lots of hands on scanning practice of both 'real' people and ultrasound phantoms designed to simulate specific pathology and abnormal findings.
The course is led by an expert faculty all of whom have extensive experience of using diagnostic bedside ultrasound in the urgent and unscheduled care settings.
The UC-POCUS Foundation Course Introduces the following:
- Basic overview of principles of ultrasound
- Role of POCUS in Urgent Care (inlcuding potential clinical applications)
- Acute urinary retention / bladder evaluation
- POCUS in the undifferentiated breathless patient
- POCUS for DVT
- POCUS for foreign bodies
- The role of POCUS in evaluating acute joints (inc intro to the principles of US-guided aspiration and/or injection)
- POCUS for evaluating lumps, bumps and swellings
- Governance, equipment and introducing ultrasound to your practice
Want to go further with your UC US practice, to include cardiac evaluation, abdominal assessment, obstetric and even ophthalmic skills? Why not build on the Foundation Course with our Urgent Care POCUS (Intermediate) and Urgent Care POCUS (Advanced) courses, or work towards the Urgent Care Ultrasound Academcy Certificate in UC-POCUS?
