This case-based course is designed to increase the participant's scope of practice in managing common wounds including simple lacerations, abrasions, avulsions, bites, and puncture wounds as they present in the outpatient setting. Improve patient care and your value to your practice with essential procedural skills by exploring common, but potentially problematic cases from presentation to follow-up including aseptic technique, proper use of skin adhesives, basic suturing, and alternate wound closure methods. Workshop: Suturing Skills for Complex Lacerations. Sunday, October 6, 2024, 1:30 pm – 5:45 pm PT
Many “complex” traumatic lacerations are referred to specialists either unnecessarily or prematurely - or simply repaired improperly. This case-based course is designed to increase the participant’s scope of practice in managing complicated lacerations. By exploring common, but frequently problematic, cases from injury and management to post-repair follow-up, participants will learn specialized repair techniques that will improve patient outcomes. This advanced wound management course is designed for participants who are already competent in basic laceration repair techniques and seek to elevate their skill set to the next level. Workshop: Clinical Integration of Radiology Studies in Urgent Care Practice. Monday, October 7, 2024, 1:45 pm – 3:45 pm PT
This workshop will involve a case-based review of several lower acuity acute complaints that present to urgent care and Emergency department settings which may involve considerations of imaging. We will review resources to guide selecting appropriate studies, clinical decision rules that may obviate the need for imaging, and some basic interpretation of plain film radiology. It is important to note that this workshop is focused on clinical reasoning and integration of imaging into urgent care practice and does not provide extensive coverage on the interpretation of imaging/radiography.
Workshop: Essential Emergency and Urgent Care Procedures. Monday, October 7, 2024, 1:45 pm – 6:00 pm PT
Many fundamental procedures can safely be performed in the office or urgent care setting, taking a minimal amount of time while dramatically increasing your *Relative Value Units (RVU). Improve patient care and your value to your practice with these essential procedural skills including basic emergency ENT skills, simple dental trauma management, finger injuries, anesthesia and infections, soft tissue infection management, incision and drainage technique, proper orthopedic and soft tissue immobilization techniques, and appropriate antibiotic therapies.
