Urblandia x DPZ | Léon Krier Retrospective

Join us for a special in-person event at DPZ celebrating the life and legacy of the late Léon Krier the Luxembourg-born architect, theorist, and urban planner recognized as one of the most influential voices of New Urbanism.

Krier is renowned for his critique of post-war modernist urbanism—challenging towers, highways, and single-use zoning—while championing a return to human-scale, traditional architecture and walkable communities. His philosophy helped shape the foundations of New Urbanism, influencing generations of planners and architects around the world.

From his work with Prince Charles on Poundbury to his role as advisor to DPZ CoDesign, and through seminal writings such as The Architecture of Community, Krier has left an indelible mark on the built environment. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the prestigious Driehaus Prize in 2003.

The evening will feature a conversation with Andrés Duany, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and moderated by Andrew Quarrie, reflecting on Krier’s profound impact and the enduring relevance of his ideas.

This is a rare opportunity to explore the legacy of a visionary through the stories and insights of his closest contemporaries.
