About this Event
In collaboration with OMI (https://omirotterdam.nl/en/), EXPO #19 examines the multifaceted nature of public spaces. These areas are more than mere locations; they are the foundation for creating inclusive, resilient, and vibrant environments. Our focus is advocating for environmentally sustainable and visually appealing urban areas that serve as safe and welcoming spaces for women.
We are excited to host Marjolein Moeijes (https://www.nationaalparkstadrotterdam.nl/rangers), a passionate advocate for urban nature and a ranger with Nationaal Park Stad, who is instrumental in Rotterdam’s bid to become a National Park City. Marjolein’s contributions through campaign leadership, event coordination, and content creation are vital to this initiative.
The push for Rotterdam to be recognised as a National Park City is part of an international initiative (https://www.nationalparkcity.org/) that seeks to reimagine our urban landscapes. This ambitious movement aims to transform cities into environments where nature thrives, benefiting both the planet and its inhabitants. But what does achieving National Park City status mean for Rotterdam? And importantly, how does the integration of women’s perspectives enhance this vision?
Join us at EXPO #19 to dive into these questions and more. Discover how Rotterdam’s nomination as a National Park City not only symbolizes a commitment to greener, healthier, and wilder urban spaces but also represents a step forward in acknowledging and integrating the unique contributions of women in urban design and planning.
Our evening session of pitches & discussions will start at 19.30 and we hope to wrap it up around 21.30, after which there’s a chance to have some more drinks & snacks (included in your ticket!) and some more conversations.
PS: Just a reminder that our Expos are women-only - sorry men, you are very welcome to our other events!
