Join AIA Brooklyn’s Committee on the Environment for a walking tour of a truly unique rooftop landscape and a reclaimed waterfront amidst one of Brooklyn’s most industrial quarters.
The Newtown Creek Alliance will begin our tour on the 25,000-square-foot Kingsland Wildflowers green roof that serves as an urban oasis and pollinator garden followed by the Newtown Creek Nature walk, a meandering public art space created by NYC’s Department of Environmental Protection. The evocative evening will be rich with discussions of environmental conservation and restoration and highlighted by remarkable views, both gritty and glorious.
Directions: 15-minute walk east along Greenpoint Avenue from the Greenpoint Avenue “G” Station or a 4-minute walk from the Citibike dock at Greenpoint Ave. & Monitor St. Tour ends at the corner of end at the corner of Paidge Ave. and Provost St. Worth the trip.
