HOW TO REGULATE YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM

URBAN TALKS is a monthly speaker series featuring various experts in the field of health and wellness. Each month, we invite a guest speaker to present a topic that is relevant to how we view holistic wellness in the modern framework. These experts will offer you insight into simple tools, exercises or perspectives that they may use with their own clients. Each 30 – 40 minute talk will be followed by a Q&A and comments section to engage you as active participants in our discussion around mental and physical health. The field of health, wellness, and fitness is full of incredible resources. Through URBAN TALKS we not only give you access to some of the resources that we have cherry-picked for you here in Singapore, but we encourage you to take action in building healthy mind and body that can inspire positive change within yourself and your own communities.

HEAL YOURSELF PHYSICALLY & EMOTIONALLY

If you’re suffering from fatigue, sleep issues, chronic pain, anxiety, trauma or other related issues, there is actually a direct impact between stress, trauma and our physical bodies. In this session, Kathy Gabriel will be sharing the science of this relationship in a simple and accessible way. Learn more about your own stress responses, how your nervous system is wired, and ultimately how to use you own healing capacity of your physical and emotional body to cultivate an optimum health state. As a Yoga teacher, Bodyworker and Craniosacral Therapist, Kathy is passionate about engaging in body awareness and presence to facilitate states of deep release and healing in your body and mind.


What we will cover:

* What is stress & trauma, how does it connect with your body

* The power of presence and body awareness

* More about the polyvagal theory, vagus nerve, breath and your nervous system

* Modern somatic therapies for self regulation and restorative of health

* How to switch off your stress response and achieve optimum health state

About Kathy Gabriel

Kathy Gabriel is a Yoga teacher, Craniosacral Therapist & Bodyworker licensed under Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists (PACT). Although yoga and complementary health was always in her family, she only picked up yoga as teenager during a period of spiritual seeking. She initially sought out Buddhism and meditation out in order to process her grief. Through the years, her understanding of health and wellness began to expand and it was through a holistic practice, she learned how to found solace, ease and balance to move through the different seasons of life. She is deeply passionate about sharing this practice with others, helping them navigate their own journey through the belief that all that one ever needs lies within.
