Let's meet up in Te Marae o Hine - The Square to do some Urban Sketching!What is Urban Sketching? Its drawing on location the things you see around you and usually takes place in the urban environment. It can be anything! And it doesn't have to include people if you don't want to.
What do you need to bring?
- Yourself! "Talent" is absolutely optional - you don't have to be "good" at sketching you just need to be keen to meet people and have fun!
- Pen and Paper - or anything that will make marks on something else. A ball point pen or pencil and a refill pad or notepad is perfectly fine
- Other bits - some people like to watercolour their sketches, use colouring pencils or even crayons! Be imaginative
-A water bottle and snacks if you need or want them.
Where to meet?
Lets meet at the clock tower and decide from there if we just want to spread out or sketch something in particular. At the end of the session we will meet up again and have a look at each others work.
If the weather is crap we can find someplace undercover - or that supplies coffee! - to sketch from instead
Why share our work?
You don't have to - but it is common at Urban Sketching events to do a bit of a round table at the end of the session. With all kinds of people coming to sketch you'll get to see all kinds of styles of drawing.
