Urban Sketching in Hertford. Our monthly Urban Sketching session will return to Hertford in October. This time we will focus on river views. Join us ‘en plein air’ for some urban sketching, capturing this time, the beauty of Hertford’s Architecture with tutor Elena Russu.This workshop is outside and you will be walking around the town and sketching in various locations. Looking at line, detail, composition, perspective, tone and colour you’ll quickly gain the skills and confidence to start capturing the beauty of Hertford with style and personality.
After a short introduction to herself and each other, Elena will demonstrate different tricks and techniques and how she builds her sketches.
Tutor Elena Russu is from Moldova, now living permanently in the UK. She studied MA in Architecture at the School of Art in Moldova. She has plenty of experience in her favourite past time of Urban Sketching. She has taught both adults and children both in person and online, in a variety if different workshops in pastels, water colour and drawing. She has taught students from the Metropolitan University and run workshops for Urban Sketchers London. She also creates commercial illustrations for packaging brands and book covers; her recent illustrated book is called ‘’ The Menacing Mystery of Troublesome Town” by Patricia Cecan.
This workshop is for anyone age 16+
Just bring your creativity, love for architecture and lots of enthusiasm.
Meeting at 10:30am at by the Gate at BEAM Theatre, Elena will take you to a small selection of places to sketch in Hertford. These could be the Hertford Castle, St Andrews Street and Church, Folly Island and river or Fore Street. As our county town, Hertford is full of stunning architecture so the choice will be huge and determined by those who book on. The group will be a maximum of 8 people. The session is on Sunday 26th October at 10:30am lasts for 2.5 hours and is costed at £20.
Boards, paper, pencils, pens and watercolour will be provided, but feel feel to bring your your own. We suggest an A4 sketching pad is ideal.
The workshop could be subject to cancellation and a full refund if the weather is for consistent rain.
