About this Event
Urban Sketchers Orlando in collaboration with the Winter Garden Art Association (WGAA), is hosting Urban Sketchwalk as part of the annual Winter Garden ARTS-IN-APRIL event; an opportunity to welcome Spring and celebrate the Arts in the beautiful downtown Winter Garden.
ARTS-IN-APRIL SKETCHWALKS TIMELINE:
🔹 9:30-10:30 am - Registration, stamping station, and information table at SOBO Gallery's front patio. Look for our purple tent!
🔹 10:00 am - Sketchwalks leaders will meet you in front of SOBO Gallery. Be on time! Don't be left behind!
🔹10:30 am -1:00 pm - Sketchwalks in progress
🔹1:30 pm - Meet back at SOBO Gallery's front patio for our traditional Sketchbooks Throwdown and Group Photo.
🔹1:30-2:00 pm - Our volunteers will be back at SOBO Gallery between 1:30pm and 2:00pm to assist you with your sketch submission should you wish to participate in the WGAA Urban Sketching Art Competition.
🔹11:00pm, April 14th - COMPETITION Art Submission Deadline. Submit up to two sketches on paper with an Urban Sketchers stamp to qualify for the competition. 1st Place $100 and 2 Awards of Merit for $50 each. Some sketches from this event may be selected for display in the SOBO Gallery Urban Sketchers wall space.
THE PROGRAM:
SKETCHWALKS - along Winter Garden Historic Downtown and Saturday's Farmers Market.
This will mark our 5th year hosting this special series of 3 simultaneous Sketchwalks led by Urban Sketchers Orlando volunteers. This is a FREE event. At this event, you will be able to choose 1 of 3 Sketchwalk groups; each group led by a Sketchwalk Leader, each group taking its own walking route to a different sketch location in historic downtown Winter Garden. The popular weekly Farmer's Market will also be open, so many sights and scenes will inspire your sketches! The Sketchwalks will begin at 10:30 am - don't be left behind!
COMPETITION - Urban Sketching Competition by Winter Garden Art Association. You will be able to submit your completed sketches during that day for the chance to win a cash prize or Merit Award!
WHAT TO BRING: Your favorite art and drawing materials and a portable stool or chair for sitting while you sketch. We suggest to bring sketchbooks with tear-away pages or loose paper which can be framed, because sketches from this event may be collected and featured inside SOBO Art Gallery in the Urban Sketchers wall space.
Arrive early for easy parking, your registration stamps, and to choose your group.
Event registration starts at 9:30 am at the SOBO Art Gallery front patio. Be sure to get your sketchbook pages or single-sheet drawing papers stamped at registration for a chance to enter the Urban Sketching Competition.
A link to submit your finished sketches for the competition will be available on the SOBO Gallery website by the end of the event. COMPLETED ARTWORKS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE by 11:00 pm on April 14th. All sketchers can submit up to 2 pieces of their urban sketches. ALL submitted sketches MUST have a URBAN SKETCHERS stamp given out during event registration. We will have volunteers available to help you after the completion of the Sketchwalks between 1:30 to 2:00 pm at our purple tent at the SOBO Art Gallery patio.
