Join Helen Sierminski for an Urban Nature Walk through one of our greatest Urban Parks, Louis Armstrong Park. This historic location is a wonderful example of a curated nature space in the urban environment. These spaces are vital for maintaining healthy ecosystems, most notably serving as an oasis for migratory birds. We will explore this space, noticing and appreciating the flora and fauna that call it home. Like most parks, this is the home to many species of wildlife and domesticated animals, including Bald Cypress and Live Oak Trees, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, Squirrels, Muscovy Ducks and Magnolia Trees.
Helen is an Urban Naturalist and an Urban Nature Witch. She takes a holistic approach to guiding her walks, combining science, spiritual symbolism, aesthetics, mental and physical health to assist in engaging others with the urban environment. She is a certified Master Naturalist, a Board Member for the Native Plant Initiative and a practicing Augur (bird divination).
Bring Binoculars if you have them. This Walk is Free but donations are happily accepted. Your donations allow us to continue guiding walks such as these.
Parking is paid on Rampart but free on St Philip St. Consider taking the Rampart Street Car.
