This is the 1st of two workshop intensives guest instructor Nii will teach over the weekend. Originally from Ghana, now based out of NYC, Nii draws on over 20-years of social dancing and a background of reiki and yoga to form a unique teaching style for both Urban Kiz and Brazilian Zouk. He was the first instructor to teach Urban Kiz classes in RVA 2023 and I can't wait for him to see how much we've grown! This workshop and social is open to students who have completed at least Level 1 Urban Kiz training with Jennifer & Charlie (or equivalent). We will not be teaching basic technique in this workshop.
"Fun and Games" is a brand new workshop from DanceFlowHaven that is designed with some core values in mind:
1. Training should be interesting and fun
2. Follows should get as much attention as leads in lessons
3. More than just moves and combinations, we should be practicing in the class room what we would like to see on the social dance floor. e.g. etiquette, social skills, technique, leadership, musicality, creativity & connection.
This workshop aims to operate within a modality that offers the opportunity for all the layers of education and awareness building it takes to foster a healthy community of thriving dancers in a fun and engaging way. Specific skills have exercises and games built around them and participants gain an opportunity to shape and take ownership of their learning journey even as they are enjoying the lesson.
After the workshop DJ Devine will curate a 1 hour practice social for us enjoy our newfound skills and and vibe together.
$40 admission includes 2-hr workshop & 1 hr practice social. Come join in for a new, fun and rich experience.
This event is held in a private home, address sent after receiving payment. All attendees must be connected to host (Jennifer Dancarina) via FB, IG or phone. Dance shoes & socks allowed - please remove street shoes at the door.
After dancing, stick around for optional group dinner in the area.
