About this Event
Hi! I'm Nick Mann, and I talk about edible plants. With the recent rains in Southern California, we have wild, edible abundance growing in our urban areas. Join me for a 2-hour walk where we'll identify, forage, and taste delicious and healthy weeds. I'll also point out any toxic lookalikes that we come across.
I often get asked about plant ID apps, and I actually want to encourage their use on this walk. While they're often incorrect, and you should never eat anything that you can't 100% identify, plant ID apps can be valuable tools in a balanced outdoor education.

When: Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10AM to 12 noon.
Where: The exact meeting point will be provided after RSVP, but we'll walk through the Bette Davis Picnic Area: an exclave of Griffith Park that's adjacent to the Riverside Rancho neighborhood of Glendale, CA. The map pin that Eventbrite suggests is not accurate. Make sure to check the email before the event for the exact meeting point!
Cost: The event is free yet donation-based. $20 suggested donation (less for kids) at the conclusion of the event via cash, Venmo, PayPal, etc. Please consider supporting if you're able.
