About this Event
With an introduction from special guest Mike West of Rogue Country UK, 3 of our most talented local Singer / Songwriters will be performing their original material in the intimate performance space upstairs at the Indigo Venue.
Born in Liverpool and well established on the UK Americana scene as an award-winning songwriter, Katie Nicholas steps into a new era with her latest work, showcasing her as a distinctive folk artist, skilful guitarist and fearless in bending any genre to suit her message.
Showcased by Whispering Bob Harris on his “Under The Apple Tree Event" in Nashville, performing at festivals including C2C Showcase, Buckle & Boots and BBC Introducing Highest Point, Katie most recently sold out her headline show at the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room, performing her songs with a string quartet. Previously Katie recorded at both Abbey Road Studio London and Blackbird Nashville, featured on the SSL advert, endorsed by brands like Aston Mics and Blackstar Amps, and has accumulating over 40+ BBC broadcasts (including live sessions).
In 2023 she released her latest EP, after years of silence and removal of her catalogue online (leaving only the music videos she produced on YouTube). Fans eagerly awaited the arrival of her latest campaign, “Feather” - a collection of poetic songs that touch all realms of human fragility. The music was later released after the sudden loss of her mother earlier that year, who she now dedicates this music to. Likened to Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones and Joni Mitchell, the sentiment of this collection holds a powerful message too; there is strength in our vulnerability.
2024 is proving to be a promising and busy year for Katie as she sets free a 50-part YouTube series called "Songwriter Diaries", a project she has worked on for many years. Making up for lost time, here she celebrates 10+ years of unreleased music and sharing stories behind each one. See more at katienicholas.co.uk/songwriterdiaries.
In Autumn 2024, her country/americana EP is set for release, celebrating the best of her earliest work. Featuring AMA award-winning artists including Anna Corcoran, Joe Coombs, Chris Hillman, Mark Lewis and Sean Rogan.
Liverpool based Ben will be showcasing material from his extensive catalogue of original compositions. Heavily influened by the Merseybeat sound and vibrant Liverpool Indie scene, Ben has been a constant presence on the local circuit for over 10 years.
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Wirral, with a genuine passion for music, nature, and love. Helen has been writing lyrics, poems, feelings, and thoughts for as long as she can remember. In 2016 Helen decided she wanted to learn the guitar so she could perform her songs. And that’s exactly what she did!
Embarking on her musical journey Helen taught herself to play the guitar, and began to write more songs. Working in a few different jobs along the way helped her to realise that her true calling was music.
After attending an Open Mic Night here and there Helen then took her music with her and went off to see the world - travelling and performing right across Europe, as well as New Zealand and Bali.
After returning to the UK in 2020, Helen released her debut solo album "Meaningful Conversations". The album is a collection of original songs capturing Helen’s expressive and spiritual nature.
After releasing a few singles over the past couple of years, her album, “Keep Movin’” was released on 14 February 2024. This record highlights Helen’s development as a songwriter and artist, and like Helen is an enchanting mix of different feelings and energy, exploring themes of happiness, growth, and love.
