Approx 5 miles long and utilising a secluded loop off the Carsington circular trail, this route takes a leisurely meander uphill through the woods before reconnecting to the main reservoir path. The route sets out and concludes waterside and there is a fabulous view across the reservoir from the top of the hill. This is an excellent route for less experienced combinations as it is on a usually quiet section of the trail. There is however an opportunity to gain some traffic exposure whilst not being on the road along the roadside section of the trail. View the route demo video here:
Worth noting:
Carsington is a multi-user trail so expect to meet cyclists and walkers with dogs or pushchairs. Off road wheelchairs are also sometimes encountered.
There may be livestock beside the route and there may be sheep in one field which the route passes through.
The route is entirely off road but sections of the trail travel alongside a fairly busy road behind some natural screening.
Trails are hardcore surfaced and may be stony in places.
Parking is pay on exit with maximum charges of £4 for all day.
Group sizes are limited to 6 + guide. All riders must have their own Public Liability insurance to cover themselves and their horses. Under 18s are welcome but on a first visit must be accompanied on the ride by an adult rider. Places are £38.50 and can be booked using the 'Find Tickets' button.
