If you are new to Cacao, the ceremony is designed to guide you in a positive, uplifted state where you're open to embracing spiritual intentions as you connect more deeply with yourself and with others.
Wear clothes comfortable to move in. Bring water and something to sit or lie on, a blanket, thick socks, water, eye pillow and anything else that will enhance your warmth and comfort.
"I came into Alex's Cacao Ceremony feeling dulled by life, not realising how closed-up my heart was feeling until it warmed and opened under the influence of the cacao! In the safe and welcoming space of the cacao ceremony I could feel myself uncurling, going from tightly wound to relaxed and able to breathe freely again. Then the sounds of the gongs and other instruments could get to my heart to rearrange things, so that the next day I am happier and more in love with being alive. Thank you to Alex, the cacao and the gongs!"
Not to put you off but please be aware…
Gong baths are not suitable for anyone whose had major surgery in the last 6 weeks, anyone who suffers from fits (epileptics), or is extremely sensitive to sound. They are also not recommended for women in the first trimester of pregnancy due to the unstable nature of pregnancy during that time. If you wear a hearing aid, your device should be turned off during the session.
Whilst cacao is generally safe to drink and not a typical allergen, there are some contraindications to be aware of:
1. Cacao contains caffeine, (same amount as green tea and less than coffee) so bear this in mind if you are sensitive to caffeine.
2. Cacao also contains an amino acid called tryptophan. This is the precursor to serotonin, (the neurotransmitter in charge of your mood and a commonly prescribed anti-depressant). If mixed with cacao and depending on dosage, it can create some unpleasant side effects (headaches). For this reason, please let me know if you need a smaller, homeopathic dose of cacao so you can enjoy the benefits without overdoing it.
3. If you have a diagnosed heart condition.
However, this doesn’t mean you can't drink a small amount of cacao and therefore have the energy of the plant medicine in you.
Drinking a small amount of cacao in pregnancy has not been shown to have any harmful effects.
If you’re uncertain whether or not cacao or a sound bath is right for you, best to check with your doctor first.
