About this Event
Join us for a FREE, DIY Fidget/Stim Tools Workshop at the Pittsburgh Center For Creative Reuse!
Do you have an old shirt or kitchen towels covered in stains or discoloration? Do you love them so much you are willing to give them a new life? Join Creative Reuse and Guest Teaching Artist Carlee for an afternoon of reducing textile waste by upcycling previously loved garments. Participants can bring in any pre-loved garments to use during the workshop. Materials made of predominantly cotton will work the best, however it is possible to work with other fabric blends. Please also note that materials that are white, or a shade of off white will have the best results, darker colors are not recommended. Fabric dying is a process that takes ~1hour, so Carlee requests that all participants arrive within the first 30 minutes if possible!
Creative Reuse is a supportive space, open to folks with any level of artistic ability. Our goal is to foster expression and creative community, not perfection. Just bring an open mind– we’ll cover the rest.
This workshop is the second of our Guest Teaching Artist workshop series where we'll bring in a different local artist to host a workshop on the second sunday of each month. This months' Guest TA is Carlee (she/her). Carlee is a mixed media artist based in Southwestern, PA who has a deep love for nature and sustainable art practices. Carlee has a vast amount of experience working with natural and fiber reactive dyes and is super stoked to share her knowledge with others! If you or anyone you know is interested in the opportuntiy to host a workshop, check out the application here: https://forms.gle/i19d2eLE2vPS6hwq5
