Taylor Moeller-Roy & Kourtney Kositzke,Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass
Upcycle your favorite wine bottle into a self-watering planter! We’ll utilize a special scoring tool and thermal shock to heat up and break our wine bottles.
After grinding the edges to make sure they’re not sharp, we’ll set up our planters and plant optional seeds. We encourage participants to bring 2-3 wine bottles, but other options will be provided. All experience levels welcome!
Wardrobe Policy
Class participants are required to wear closed-toed shoes to class. Shoes like crocs, clogs, and other sandals are a safety hazard when working with sharp or hot glass. We recommend natural fiber clothing like denim and cotton for flameworking classes. Safety glasses and gloves are provided.
Must be 18 or older. A waiver of liability form will be sent to you to complete before the class.
Keep in mind when choosing your wine bottles:
Labels need to be removed in advance
Wine bottle with defined shoulders work best
This technique works best with round/cylindrical bottles
