Looking for a fun, creative way to breathe new life into old denim? Join our 4-hour Upcycling Denim Workshop and turn your unused denim into chic, wearable pieces! This workshop is perfect for beginner-intermediate sewists who have completed a Sewing 101 course or are comfortable operating a sewing machine and working with basic fabric cutting and stitching techniques.
What you’ll create:
Choose from two designs:
- Under-bust corset
- Stylish wide belt/wrap
What’s included:
• Instruction and guidance on upcycling techniques for denim.
• Sewing patterns for both garment options
• All additional materials and tools needed (except denim).
What you’ll need to bring:
• Your own denim pieces—whether they’re yours, your partner’s, or someone else’s! Any old jeans, pants, or denim items you’d like to upcycle will work.
What you’ll leave with:
• A custom, upcycled garment tailored by YOU.
• Custom pattern for your garment
• New sewing techniques to expand your skills.
Important Notes:
• This workshop is NOT for absolute beginners. Participants must have completed Sewing 101 or have basic sewing skills, including machine operation and fabric cutting.
• Please include your wearable size when signing up for the workshop to ensure we prepare the custom pattern for you.

Hi there! I’m Julia Medeiros, a seasoned professional in the world of apparel.
With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
