Welcome to the opening of UP NEXT 2025, our exhibition featuring Viola Nimuhamya, winner of this year’s open call. The Ugandan-born, Bergen-based artist recently completed her Master of Fine Art at the University of Bergen. She often incorporates upcycled textiles into her work, weaving sustainability into her material language.This exhibition, One at a Time, is her first solo and unfolds slowly, inviting stillness and the slow pulse of a practice shaped by both staying and letting go. It is curated by Max Diallo Jakobsen, winner of the 2025 Southnord Residency Programme award.
The evening also marks Southnord’s second anniversary, and we’d love for you to join us in celebrating this wonderful milestone.
