About this Event
Join us as we launch of Australia’s first report on the health impacts of methane pollution - a groundbreaking step towards addressing this urgent issue. This report comes after significant advocacy for improved regulation and accurate measurement of methane emissions from coal and gas.
The event will be held on Tuesday, 26 November at UNSW Sydney, and will provide an opportunity to explore the findings of the report and engage in discussions on the need for decisive and measurable action.
Expert speakers, including Dr. Michael Bonning, Dr. Kim Loo, Hannah Beaton, and Peggy Smith, will share insights on advancing two key areas: enhancing Australia’s nationally determined contributions under the UN Convention on Climate Change, with targeted efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and launching new initiatives in New South Wales to address methane emissions from the state’s major coal and gas operations.
We hope you can join us for this important event as we collectively work toward reducing methane emissions and improving public health outcomes.

During her studies, she researched the health costs of air pollution under Associate Professor Donna Green's "Clean Air Schools" program and during her employment at an electric vehicle start-up. Hannah went on to receive the Faculty of Science Prize, for her Honours research on methane emissions from open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, NSW. Her honours work catalysed research contracts with state and national government, where she now continues her work with Associate Professor Bryce Kelly, assessing methane emissions within the coal and agricultural industry.
