Join us in celebrating the return of the Iconic Livingston Santa to Downtown Bloomington on the Museum Square during Small Business Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.Santa will be there to help unveil his 14 ft, larger-than-life lookalike. During the program, we will enjoy festive music and recognize the various individuals and organizations who made the Museum's largest-ever preservation project possible. Plus, attendees will receive a special commemorative token while supplies last.
The Livingston's department store operated in downtown Bloomington for over 100 years. From the mid-1940s to the late 1970s, the store would hoist two 14 ft Santa statues onto the awning to drum up interest during the holiday season. After Livingston's closed, Jeffery Alan Wandell, owner of Prairie Gardens, and Jeffery Alans purchased the Santas. In 2023, Wandell gifted the Santas to the Museum to preserve them; thus began our #SavingSanta initative.
