Join us for Untold Stories with Sharon Reyes: The History of the Marquez-Reyes Family!
Santa Monica Conservancy and Santa Monica Public Library co-host an evening with Sharon Reyes about the Marquez-Reyes family history, with never-before-seen photographs from Sharon’s personal collection.

Doors open at 5 p.m.
The program starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Shotgun House (2520 Second Street)
The talk starts at 6:30 p.m. at Ocean Park Library (2601 Main Street)
The program begins with a reception at the Conservancy’s Shotgun House to unveil a new exhibition panel recognizing the Marquez-Reyes’ contributions to Santa Monica. Then guests will walk to the adjacent Ocean Park Library, where Historian Nina Fresco moderates a conversation and Q&A with Sharon Reyes, as she discusses how the Marquez-Reyes family laid roots in Santa Monica after receiving a Mexican land grant in 1839. While the family has influenced the larger Southern California region, this event will focus on their experiences in Santa Monica and Santa Monica Canyon.
