About this Event
Join Soiled Dove and the Museum of Idaho on April 8th for the return of Untold Stories of Idaho Falls, where we uncover the remarkable and often overlooked histories of the past.
This time, Chloe Doucette and Jeff Carr from MOI delve into the extraordinary life of Pegleg Ellis—a man shaped by war, loyalty, and survival. Born to a Cherokee father in Georgia, he grew up in Kentucky and Tennessee, where his family—Unionists despite their surroundings—struggled in poverty. Though he and his brothers initially enlisted as Confederates, they soon deserted to fight for the Union, ultimately facing former friends in battle.
Branded a traitor after the war, he sought a new path, becoming an expert marksman and a respected, yet feared, lawman and security officer. From a railroad accident that cost him his leg to a high-profile M**der trial that destroyed his reputation, his story is one of resilience, injustice, and legend. Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of storytelling as we bring the history of Pegleg Ellis to life!
Based on guest feedback, we’re adjusting the seating arrangement to create a more comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere!
- If you were at our last untold stories then you will know that we had event style seating. We will NOT do event style seating so people can sit at tables and order food. This will reduce available seating that is in view of the speaker, so act fast!
- For those who prefer a more relaxed setting, we’ll have a television streaming the event from the other side of the venue.
Don't forget to try the night's Featured Cocktail: Pegleg’s Smoking Gun... as it turns out, Pegleg's roots were in Tennessee and Kentucky. We would be remiss if we did not craft something that begins with Kentucky Bourbon. The mocktail will be orange juice based. Without giving away too much of Pegleg's story, think the Juice is Loose!
We will be accepting donations at the event for the Museum of Idaho.
