FOMOHOMO and UNMUTE are thrilled to invite Fafi Abdel Nour!
Fafi Abdel Nour's music weaves his life's experiences into sets that celebrate the golden era of house music, particularly from '92 to '98, echoing the communal and liberatory spirit of those times. His selections blend the weird, wacky, and wonderful, embracing queer culture and fostering a space for free experimentation. Fafi's sound transcends genre constraints, offering dancers a journey through timelessness with everything from spellbinding melodic passages, house-inflected body music and enchanted breakbeats melded into flourishes of ecstatic sensation.
Recognized by RA as a standout breakthrough talent of 2023, Fafi has taken his distinctive sound to iconic locations and showcases, including Amsterdam's De School's final party, Panorama Bar, Dekmantel, Boiler Room, and HOR.
As a first-generation Syrian in the Netherlands, Fafi navigated the challenges of cultural integration and embracing his queerness, finding solace and identity in dance music during young adulthood, which led him to advocate for greater inclusivity of artists and DJs of color in the music scene. Fafi’s queer clubnights at OOST in Groningen were born out of this resolve to create community empowerment for marginalized people to transcend beyond the oppressive dominant culture surrounding them.
