About this Event
About this event
We are bringing together Black and minoritised individuals and cultural heritage
organisations from across Bath and the South West to discuss what
cultural heritage means to them, how they presently engage with their cultural
heritage, and how they would like to preserve their cultural heritage in a physical and
digital space.
In 2020, the Black South West Network (BSWN) undertook an examination of the
situation of decolonisation within the cultural heritage sector in the South West
focused on how concepts like decolonisation, diversity, and inclusion in relation to
racial inclusion are understood and enacted within the heritage and cultural sector in
the South West of England. Over the next few months, with the support of National
Heritage Lottery Funding, we will be exploring the creation of the UnMuseum in
greater depth through our development phase: Re-Telling and Reimagining the
Histories and Cultural Heritage of Racially Minoritised Communities in the South
West.
