Unmask the Magic of Winter Folklore at the Kamloops Krampus Mask WorkshopOn Saturday, November 8, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the new Stínesten Gallery at 140 Laburnum Street, come and join the Kamloops Krampus Krew and local artist Charlie Napcolors for an afternoon where art, tradition, and community meet. This hands-on mask-making workshop is inspired by the legendary European folklore of Krampus, the legendary, horned companion to Saint Nicholas.
Participants will learn how to create their own paper mâché Krampus masks, guided by experienced event producers and artists behind the beloved Kamloops Krampus Parade & Market. Whether you’re drawn to the folklore of dark winter nights, love imaginative costume art, or simply want a fun way to connect with local creatives, this workshop is a perfect fit.
Designed for adults and teens 14+ (teens must be accompanied by an adult), the class will focus on mâché, horns, and expressive mask making, using paint and texture to bring your creature to life. All supplies are included, and no previous art experience is required. All you need to bring is curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy.
Community workshops can do more than teach; they can connect people. Together, we can share stories, laughter, and a sense of community as we explore a tradition that mixes folklore with the vibrant local art scene. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind mask and a deeper connection to both the winter season and the creative community that makes Kamloops special.
