About this Event
Unknowing: Philosophy Salon
As a society, we are obsessed with knowledge. We invest in science, spend numerous hours on podcasts, and scroll the news endlessly until the sundown - or sunset, for some of us. This makes sense. For ancient philosophers, knowledge was an intrinsic good. So this is the good we seek. But those philosophers also had place for the opposite process - getting rid of knowledge in one's head. And so you might wonder: if knowledge is so vital to us, why would anyone do that? In this philosophy salon, we will try to understand why unknowing is also knowing, and the benefits and dangers that this method involves.
