This event is PRE-ENTRY ONLY – please note there will be NO entry at the event. So you must register in advance. Enter via the Tickets link above (available nearer the event).
Try a new outdoor adventure sport! Ideal for all ages and abilities, with courses for runners and also families and children. Help is available and no experience is necessary.
================
DIRECTIONS / PARKING
Participants from outside Oxford are strongly encouraged to use the Park and Ride: see www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/public-site/park-and-ride. Pear Tree (convenient to the A40 and A34) is recommended, as buses down Banbury Rd stop very near The Parks.
Pay & display parking is available on some of the streets to the north of The Parks.
Assembly will be found near the South Lodge, at the South Parks road entrance to the parks. This is in the south-east corner of the area and is a different location to the one we usually use.
================
TERRAIN
Open parkland adjacent to the River Cherwell, with paths, flowerbeds, rough grass and small wooded areas. There are toilets near Assembly in the centre of the park. The longer courses will also visit the adjacent complex University Science Area for an added urban challenge around the buildings, lanes and alleys!
================
REGISTRATION AND START TIMES
Starts will be from 10:15am to 11:45pm. Why not do Parkrun first!
IMPORTANT: Courses close at 1:00pm. You must report to the download tent by 1:00pm latest, even if you retire or have not finished. The controls will be collected from 1:00pm onwards.
================
COURSES
Arranged below in order of navigational difficulty. Remember - the course lengths are the straight line distances between the control points. You'll go further, depending on your route choices!:
YELLOW: around 2.0km.
Navigational difficulty: 2/5.
Short and suitable for juniors or supervised newcomers. Controls near paths; all within the park.
ORANGE: around 3.5km.
Navigational difficulty: 3/5.
Ideal course for families, adult newcomers, and juniors with some experience. Reasonably easy, with some navigation required. Uses the park and the adjacent science area.
RED: around 5.0km.
Navigational difficulty: 3/5.
Ideal for runners looking to try orienteering - this course is like an unmarked trail race. A fairly easy, longer course. Some navigation, but not too tricky! (same difficulty as Orange; just longer). Note you'll probably run 6k actual distance with this course. Uses the park and the adjacent science area.

If you're a runner getting into orienteering, the Red and Orange courses are ideal. For families, we recommend Orange, or Yellow if you want something shorter. For juniors, Yellow is a good choice.

HOW TO ENTER
You MUST pre-enter in advance as there will be NO entry at the event (we keep entries open until 11am on the day itself, so you can enter via your mobile, but best entering in advance to save relying on phone reception!). Pre-entering reserves you a map. Just click on the Tickets link above, and fill in your details.
Entries are limited, so don't delay!
You don't have to be a member of an orienteering club to enter this event. On our entries system, just show your club name as IND (for Independent).
Small family or other groups are welcome, but please enter only the Yellow, Orange or Red courses. Enter as a senior. Change the name if you wish, for example to Jones Family.
================
