You are invited to join us as the University of Utah Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band present a double bill of some excellent music! All students AND educators get in free with your ID! You can also watch our webcast at https://music.utah.edu/libby-live/index.php. The concert will be on Tuesday, February 27 at 7:30 PM MST in beautiful Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the University of Utah campus.
First, the Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dr. Stephanie DeLuca, takes the stage to perform Jack Stamp's Cenotaph, Aaron Houston's arrangement of Ave Maria, Brant Karrick's Bayou Breakdown (featuring graduate conductor Mikayla Black), John Mackey's This Cruel Moon, and Carolyn Bremer's Early Light.
After intermission, the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Jason Missal, will perform a collection of related works by Spanish composers Joaquin Turina and Joaquin Rodrigo, American composer Michael Gandolfi (who has adapted the same theme as Rodrigo in one of his works), and Mexican composer Arturo Marquez, like Rodrigo and Turina, studied in Paris.
