A talk from members of the University of Bristol's Sustainability Team about this year's sustainability strategy
About this Event

In what seems like a relatively short period of time, public perception has shifted from viewing sustainability largely as a resource management issue, to seeing sustainability as a fundamental existential concern that affects every member of the global community and the very future of our planet.

The University of Bristol fully shares this concern. The urgency of the situation demands an immediate and profound institutional response that encompasses all activity areas of the University. In being the first UK university to declare a Climate Emergency, the staff and students of the University of Bristol made a very public commitment to elevating this response to the top of its institutional agenda.

Our Sustainability strategy is a formal expression of that response and is based on four pillars; Education, Research, Civic Engagement and Operations. This event offers attendees the opportunity to hear more about these four key as presented by Martin Wiles (Head of Sustainability), Chris Preist (University Academic Director of Sustainability), Philip Taylor (Pro Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise) and Jack Nicholls (Senior Research Associate, member of the Cabot Institute for the Environment). There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions after the talk.
