In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Young Professionals of Color Lancaster are hosting “Unity in Diversity: A Community Third Space” at Crispus Attucks Community Center. Everyone is welcome to this family-friendly time to connect and reflect on the legacy of Dr. King and how we can embody his teachings in our everyday lives. We'll be serving a free family-friendly, culturally appropriate meal that folks can enjoy as they participate in interactive third space activities, including:
- A reflection wall where folks can engage with prompts inspired by Dr. King’s teachings, the “Unity in Diversity: Our Single Garment of Destiny” theme from the 37th annual MLK Breakfast earlier in the morning, and the message of everyday action from “Be a Revolution" by MLK Breakfast keynote Ijeoma Oluo.
- A community conversation corner for open, honest dialogue with one another. Folks visiting this space will find prompts to guide conversation, if needed.
- A kids’ corner where there will be supplies for them to create the square of a quilt to be assembled as a symbol of unity and connectedness.
- A quiet reflection corner filled with Dr. King’s speeches, writings, and quotes to inspire folks on their personal journey.
