About this Event
Captains For Clean Water is a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that fights to restore and protect our water resources. In 2016, we started as a couple of fishing guides who had "had enough" of Florida’s poor water management practices devastating the estuaries we rely on. We were convinced that they would have been fixed long ago if everyone knew about the issues. The solution is known but has been delayed for decades due to a lack of political will and public awareness. So, we set out to change that.
We work to advance science-based solutions through efforts focused on awareness and education, empowering people like you to speak up for our water quality and hold elected officials
accountable. Together, we’ve united the outdoor industry, environmental groups, business community, and concerned citizens around these important issues, and are seeing more people than ever get involved in the fight for clean water. As a result, progress
is happening at a record pace, but we still have a long way to go and we need your help.
We must fight to protect these valuable resources and our way of life for future generations.”
During this discussion, we will cover the following topics:
- History: How we got to where we are
- Florida’s water management practices and their impact on our estuaries
- The role of public awareness and political accountability in achieving lasting change
- How the outdoor industry, environmental groups and businesses can unite in this fight
- Opportunities for individuals and communities to get involved in water advocacy
Although Dianna has lived in many places throughout her life, when she moved back to the Fort Myers area in July of 2014 she didn't look back. An avid
fan of the outdoors, Dianna has made a point to search out any hiking trail, beach or camping site she can get her hands on. When the opportunity to join Captains For Clean Water presented itself, she didn't think twice. Combining her professional background
with her personal love for nature, she took on the role as the Community and Business Outreach Coordinator.
Dianna's experience and knowledge spans over multiple departments including everything but not limited to; management, accounting, operations, coordination, budgeting, event planning, programming, networking,
scheduling and workflow strategies. Dianna has the ability to maintain positive relationships through various means of advocacy, collaboration, education and communication and is excited to implement this with her role at CFCW.
Dianna is grateful for the opportunity to help spread awareness in the fight for clean water. She is passionate about being part of preserving our environment for future generations and looking forward to this adventure!
